I finished Tell Me a Story last night, and these words came out of my mouth: "Wow! What a book!" Thank you for sharing your memories, Sandra. Some were sorrowful, of course, but the slapstick comedy describing Pat's ride to the hospital with friend B.S. made me laugh out loud, several times. This book revealed the twinkle in Pat Conroy's eyes... again.

I loved reading your latest book, Tell Me A Story. I felt in love first with Pat's books. Beach Music first and then all the rest. I have lost count of the number of copies of Beach Music that I gave away with my bet they would love it as much as I did. Everyone always did. I then fell in love with the marshes, pluff mud, and the sound of beach music. We bought and decorated a Tybee Island Cottage for a second home for 6 years. I always credit Pat for giving me the courage to do such an out of character bold purchase. I too am an Ant. I loved it until Matthew and climate change starting making the Ant in me weary and sold it for a house slightly inland that is more hurricane worthy in Fort Myers. I will always have an ache in my heart when thinking about my cottage and the beach music of Tybee Island. I detoured on a recent trip back from my home town in Roanoke, Virginia to find and visit Pat's grave. This is not something I ever do. Not ever. But I regretted not attending his funeral. I had an over powering urge to go to his burial spot. I did and I let him know what he means still to me. I also made a promise to start writing again. I plan to act on that promise. It was a wonderful surprise and pleasure to meet you last
May at the SC Aquarium during Mary Alice Monroe’s book
launch event. I was tickled pink to recognize you and even
more amazed that I walked up to meet you. See, I was reading
Same Sweet Girls at the time, I noticed your purse first, SSG purse
and then I recognized you. Several years ago I was at FoxTale Books
in Woodstock GA. when Moonrise came out. I found a new author
and love your books. Saw that event on Pat’s page. Love his books as well.
As many have shared his voice set to pen and paper is missed.
I am looking forward to your next book. Like the teaser excerpt.
